Part 2

What is our dashboard telling us?

Our data set consists of all space missions from 1957 to August 2022, including details on the location, date, and result of the launch, the company responsible, and the name, price, and status of the rocket used for the mission.

Here are the recommended analysis from Maven Analytics

  • How have rocket launches trended across time? Has mission success rate increased?

  • Which countries have had the most successful space missions? Has it always been that way?

  • Which rocket has been used for the most space missions? Is it still active?

  • Are there any patterns you can notice with the launch locations?

Here's what I found out

  • From the year 1957 to year 2022, a total of 4630 rockets were launched in which 1010 were still active as of August 2022.

  • Out of these active rockets, 93.17% were successful missions.

  • The country with the most number of launched rockets was USA followed by Russia and Kazakhstan. While USA also has the most number of active rockets, followed by China and France. Russia sits in the 4th place and Kazakhstan in the 6th place.

  • Japan has the highest success rate with rockets still active from the year 1957 to 2022.

  • In 1977, Russia has been recorded to have the most number of successful missions. But in the year 1979, the mission success rate from this country together with Kazakhstan, France and USA started to gradually decrease and fluctuates over time.

  • In the year 2022, USA has the highest mission success rate followed by China and Russia.

  • The rocket used for the most space missions was Cosmos 3M but it has already retired. The rocket Falcon 9 Block 5 was the 7th most rocket used that was still active based on recorded space mission from 1957 to August 2022.
